Piece meant to make us think about the differences in how we internally and publicly recognize the value of a mother’s and father’s contributions within a nuclear family.
“Trabajo” is a short film that captures my parents working in a house they can call their own–except it’s in Mexico. My mother gives a brief insight on how the family decided to migrate to the U.S. permanently–shortly after the birth of the fifth and last child, me.
This short film captures my father interacting with the figurative land of his home country and the physical land of his receiving country. These binational activities and conversations feed our nostalgia and build generational knowledge of self.
